Teaching English as a Foreign Language
Hello! Here at the METU NCC English Language Teaching (ELT) Program, we don’t just learn how to use language effectively — we also learn how to teach it effectively. Through courses in linguistics, literature, teaching methodologies, and pedagogical training, we receive a well-rounded education that is both theoretical and practical. Thanks to classroom observations and teaching practices in local schools, we get the chance to experience real classroom settings while we’re still students.
The education we receive equips us not only for teaching, but also for areas such as curriculum development, materials design, and assessment and evaluation. Additionally, by learning a second foreign language such as French or German, we gain a broader perspective on language teaching.
After graduation, we can work as teachers in public or private schools, or pursue careers in areas such as university lecturing, educational consultancy, translation, or human resources.
If you’re someone who wants more than just speaking a language — if you want to teach it and make a difference in this field — we’d love to see you among us, hocam!
